As we noted in an earlier post, the “retail apocalypse” was upon us well before the COVID-19 pandemic, but it seems every week brings us more unfortunate news regarding retail closures. Please take a few moments to read through this list of 6,300 stores that have announced closures this year as well as a link to a running list of reported retail bankruptcies.

Sorry for a somber update, but this helps illustrate why walkable, mixed-use redevelopment is beneficial to communities and is truly the future of development.
